Girotondo Playgroups celebrate Buona Pasqua (Easter)

ILC Girotondo Italian Playgroup - Easter Buona Pasqua Celebrations

How our little learners celebrated Easter the Italian way – with crafts, chocolate, and a very special story about Gigi il coniglietto.

Last week, our Girotondo Playgroup families came together at ILC to celebrate Buona Pasqua – Easter, Italian style! The room was filled with colour, laughter, and the kind of warm energy that makes our community so special.

Children dived into a wonderful range of festive activities: colourful Easter crafts, songs, games, and plenty of giggling. But of course, the moment that brought the biggest smiles was discovering the big chocolate bunny tucked inside each child’s special Easter gift bag. Pure joy!

In the story, Gigi wants to colour some eggs to gift to his friends. He sets off to ask the animals around him for help, but one by one they each say: “No Gigi, these are mine!” He asks Mamma Gallina (Mum Chicken), Papà Tacchino (Dad Turkey), Mamma Anatra (Mum Duck), and Mamma Rana (Mum Frog) but no luck!

It’s Mamma Colomba (Mum Dove) who offers something truly meaningful. Her eggs have already hatched, but she has olive branches: symbols of peace and friendship. Gigi loves the idea, shares the branches with his friends, and in a lovely twist, receives a gigantic chocolate egg in return!

It was wonderful to watch our little learners exploring new Italian words and traditions while celebrating together. The story beautifully wove together themes of kindness, generosity, and the true spirit of Easter.

A heartfelt grazie mille to all the families who joined us for this special celebration. We loved sharing this magical moment with you, and look forward to many more together. Until next time a presto!
