learn moreLessons at ILC cater for a range of age groups; from pre-school children to adults. Classroom spaces are flexible and may be re-arranged to suit student requirements, whether they be participating in a cooking class, a playgroup session or a language lesson. The flexibility extends to the mode of delivery and all classes are set up to deliver lessons either face-to-face, or through distance learning via Skype or online teaching and learning platforms.
Teachers at ILC are fluent native Italian speakers with an excellent command of English as well. They are highly experienced in the teaching of Italian as a second language. Teachers make a point of understanding student needs and adjusting their teaching styles to match those needs. Listening to a native speaker helps students attune to authentic sounds making it easier to mimic and sound authentic themselves.
There is a well-known proverb about language learning that goes: “Tell me, and I’ll forget. Show me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I’ll understand.” This is very much the thinking behind the teaching strategies at ILC. Teachers involve their students in a variety of engaging activities to help them master reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in Italian.
At ILC there are a couple of options for students to begin their Italian language learning journey. Depending on their language learning needs, students may either join a course directed towards mastering ‘survival’ Italian perhaps prior to visiting the country; or a course more orientated towards understanding how the language ‘works’.
I really enjoyed my first lesson last night. There was a lot of practice and learning. My teacher is great! The lesson was really well paced and a lot of fun. I am really happy I signed up!
It was so amazing to be able to communicate with my Italian partners’ family and friends when we recently went to Italy.
The beginner class was amazing. My teacher was lovely, and the whole atmosphere was warm, friendly, and just so much fun!
