Bluey’s Sicilian Sun, Sand, and Spaghetti Day

Dear Diary,

What a pawsome day! This morning I flew back to Palermo where I was greeted by my new friend Adelaide and her family.

The drive on the AUTOSTRADA (freeway) towards LA SPIAGGIA DI (the beach of) San Lorenzo, in the province of Syracuse was amazing: breathtaking views, lots of giggles and lots of questions from Adelaide:

“What is the weather like now? What do children eat for breakfast? Is it true that you put pineapple on your pizza? Is it true that school uniforms come in all different colours depending on the school children go to? Are there sharks? Can you have a Kangaroo as a pet?…………”

San Lorenzo is a beautiful coastal area located in the province of Syracuse, near the town of Pachino, in the south-eastern part of Sicily. It’s known for its stunning beaches, which are considered among the best in Sicily, clear turquoise waters, and pristine natural beauty.

After a few hours’ drive, we got to the beach and we couldn’t wait to splash into the water! It was cool and refreshing, just perfect for a swim.

The sky was clear, and the sea was sparkling like a big, blue gem, the sand felt soft under my paws, and I could hear the waves crashing gently along the shore while resting on my LETTINO DA SPIAGGIA (beach chair) with my new cool CAPPELLO (hat) and my OCCHIALI DA SOLE (sun glasses).

In the afternoon we drove to the Vendicari Nature Reserve, one of Sicily’s most important natural reserves where we had a picnic with some yummy PANINI IMBOTTITI, (stuffed bread rolls) and FRUTTA FRESCA (fresh fruit) from the market. Everything tastes better when you’re having a picnic!

The Vendicari Natural Reserve is a protected area with lagoons, sand dunes, and marshlands, which is home to various bird species like flamingos and herons.

As IL SOLE (the sun) began to set and IL CIELO (the sky) turned into shades of ROSA (pink), ARANCIONE (orange), E VIOLA (and purple) just like a painting, we left and made our way to our B&B, as they call it here, where we got ready for dinner.

We drove towards Pachino, famous for the POMODORINI DI PACHINO (Pachino cherry tomatoes), known all over the world for their sweetness and flavour where Adelaide’s mum told me that I was going to have the best SPAGHETTI AL POMODORO ever….and boooyyy was she right!

Good night for now, I need to rest for another big day that awaits me!!
