General Rules
- Open to all students in Years 7–12 across Queensland.
Students can enter individually or in pairs (maximum of 2 students per group) and are encouraged to collaborate in the roles of scriptwriter, voice artist, editor, etc. - Your video cannot exceed 90 seconds.
- You can use a mix of Italian and English in your video. Key vocabulary and important phrases should be in Italian, even if the explanation is in English.

You are encouraged to use voiceovers, drawings, props, puppets, or animations instead. Hands or other non-identifying body parts are permitted if they are crucial for a scene, such as pointing at an object or holding a prop.
- Submit your video via upload here by Friday 17th October 2025.
Video Theme
Choose only one of the following:
- Italian in a Few Seconds
Explain an Italian word or phrase that means something different in other countries, for example:
Latte in Italian = milk
Latte in English = coffee with milk.
Use images, animation, or captions to explain it clearly. - Lost in Translation
Make a funny skit showing a misunderstanding caused by language, for example:
A tourist in Italy asks for “pepperoni pizza” but gets bell peppers instead! - Italian Scavenger Hunt
Film Italian words found in your local area (e.g., ciao on a shop sign, gelato on a menu).
Add voiceover or captions to explain their meanings or cultural connection, for example:
A video tour of a food market pointing out words like prosciutto, mozzarella, and pesto on signs, explaining their meaning and origin. - Italian Traditions Down Under
Showcase an Italian tradition (like making pasta or playing bocce) and explain it using a mix of Italian and English.
Entry Requirements
- Videos must include Italian language elements, but some English is OK too.
- For example: “In English, latte means coffee, but in Italian it just means milk!”
- Use your own original ideas – no copying! You can use AI tools (e.g. AI, Suno etc.) for brainstorming or creating visuals, but the final concept and script must be your own original work.
- You can use trending sounds, audio, or editing effects, as long as they are appropriate for school use.
- Be creative with your video tools: drawings, props, memes, voiceovers, animated text – use your imagination!
- Important: Do not film or include any students on screen.
- Entries close Friday 17th October 2025.
