Last term, our little learners explored the world closest to their hearts – their homes and their families – all in Italian!
What a wonderful Term 3 it was in Italian Playgroup as our little learners embarked on a warm and meaningful journey through some of the most familiar and beloved topics imaginable – the home, the family, and the spaces where life happens.
Here is a peek at everything our playgroup superstars explored in Term 3!
Italian Words We Learnt
Last term was all about the world around us. Our little learners discovered Italian vocabulary across a range of connected themes:
- The house and its shapes,
- Parts and rooms of the house,
- Family members, and
- Practising two wonderful questions – Chi è? (Who is it?) and Dov’è? (Where is she/he?)
So much wonderful language packed into one term!
Look What We Can Do!
Perhaps the most exciting part of every term is seeing just how much our playgroup learners can do – and this term, they have truly amazed us. By the end of Term 3, our little ones were able to:
- Recognise and name shapes and parts and rooms of the house in Italian,
- Recognise and name family members, and
- Understand and confidently answer the questions Chi è? and Dov’è? – including saying exactly where a person is in the house.
They also showed off some brilliant hands-on skills – colouring following an example, following a sequence, cutting and gluing, following simple instructions in Italian, and even drawing their own family members.
Why It Matters
Learning Italian through familiar, everyday themes like home and family gives our youngest learners the most natural and meaningful foundation for language. When children can connect new words to the people and places they love most, language learning becomes something truly joyful.
We are so proud of every single one of our playgroup learners and the wonderful progress they made last term. A huge grazie to our families for your continued support and enthusiasm – it makes all the difference!
We cannot wait to see what Term 4 has in store. A presto!
